Business finance for the deal in front of you

Fundsmart is a New Zealand business finance broker. Short term funding, lines of credit and fast moving commercial transactions are what we do best. Come to us direct, or through your accountant, lawyer or mortgage adviser, and we will structure the requirement and present it to appropriate bank, non bank, private and specialist funding providers.

Fundsmart is a broker, not a lender. The selected funding provider makes the final lending decision.

How we work

Two ways to work with Fundsmart

Whether you are the business owner or the professional adviser beside them, the starting point is the same conversation about the transaction.

Come to us direct

Business owners, commercial property investors and developers can contact Fundsmart directly. Tell us what needs to be funded, how much and by when. We do the structuring and approach the providers that suit the transaction.

  • No finance product knowledge required.
  • One point of contact through the process.
  • No obligation to proceed.

Refer through an adviser

Accountants, lawyers, mortgage advisers and brokers refer business, asset, commercial property and specialist finance to Fundsmart. You keep the client relationship, we handle the funding piece and keep you informed.

  • Referral arrangements discussed upfront.
  • Informal discussion before anyone commits.
  • Your client stays your client.

Where we add the most value

Short term funding, lines of credit and speed

Many business transactions fail on timing rather than merit. Fundsmart focuses on funding that has to move quickly and on facilities that stay available when the business needs them.

Short term funding

Bridging, settlement and transitional funding for a defined period with a clear exit, including property backed short term facilities.

Lines of credit

Revolving and on demand facilities that sit behind the business for working capital, stock, trade and cashflow timing gaps.

Fast availability

Where a deadline is short, we approach providers who can assess quickly and tell you early whether the timeframe is realistic.

Timeframes depend on the transaction, the information available and the funding provider's own assessment. Fundsmart cannot guarantee that funding will be approved or available by a particular date.

Business, commercial and investment finance

Fundsmart assists with funding required wholly or predominantly for a genuine business, commercial or investment purpose. We do not arrange consumer residential mortgages or personal lending.

Accountants, lawyers, mortgage advisers and brokers

A finance pathway for your clients

Fundsmart works alongside professional advisers. We help structure business, asset, commercial property and specialist finance while you keep your client relationship.

Keep the client relationship

You remain your client's primary adviser. Fundsmart supports the funding piece.

Access wider funding options

Bank, non-bank, private and specialist providers for complex transactions.

Clear referral arrangements

Fee-sharing is discussed upfront so everyone understands the engagement.

No obligation referral

Discuss a transaction informally before either party commits to proceeding.

Where Fundsmart fits

Fundsmart sits between the client and potential funding providers. Our role is to understand the proposed transaction, help organise it clearly and approach appropriate providers with the client's authority.

  1. 01

    You explain the deal

The client or professional adviser tells Fundsmart what needs to be funded.

  2. 02

    Fundsmart reviews the requirement

We consider the purpose, amount, timing, business position and available transaction information.

  3. 03

    Fundsmart structures the enquiry

We help organise the information and identify the type of provider that may be appropriate.

  4. 04

    The funding provider assesses it

The selected funding provider completes its own assessment and makes the final decision.

Fundsmart does not make the lender's credit decision and cannot guarantee that funding will be available.

It may be worth talking to Fundsmart when

  • The business needs additional working capital.
  • Equipment or commercial vehicles need to be purchased.
  • A business or franchise is being acquired.
  • A commercial property transaction is planned.
  • A development requires funding.
  • A settlement or refinancing deadline is approaching.
  • IRD or existing business debt needs to be reviewed.
  • A bank has declined or cannot meet the required timeframe.
  • The transaction does not fit a standard bank process.

A previous decline does not mean finance will be available. Fundsmart will need to understand the complete transaction before explaining whether there may be another pathway.

A broader view of business finance

Start with the transaction

We begin with what the business is trying to achieve rather than requiring the client to select a finance product first.

A range of funding pathways

Depending on the transaction, Fundsmart may consider bank, non bank, private and specialist funding options.

Structured presentation

We help turn an initial funding need into a clearer proposal that an appropriate funding provider can assess.

One point of contact

Fundsmart helps coordinate the process and keeps the client informed about the information and next steps required.

Tell us what you are trying to fund

Provide a few basic details and Fundsmart will contact you to discuss the transaction and explain the next step.
